Vendor Hilary O’Leary with Bob Nixon Wallen Creek Herefords, Drillham, Owen Bronkhurst and Mark Duthie of GDL, and equal topped priced bull Remolea Kenworth. A top price of $10,000 was achieved on two occasions at the third annual Remolea Poll Hereford on-property sale at Clifton on Monday.
Conducted by Hilary and Dot O’Leary and family, the sale resulted in37bulls selling for anoverall average of $5689, representing 97 per cent clearance.
Topping the sale was thetwo-year-old bull Remolea Kenworth K83, by Trefoil Park Plair F35 from Remolea Isabel, selling to Toby and Jane Nixon, Wallen Creek Herefords, Drillham.
Kenworth entered the sale ring with a weight of 926kg,scrotal circumference of 41cm, and an EMA of 110 sq.cm.
Toby’s father, Bob Nixon, operatedon the family’sbehalf and described the Kenworth as a good honest bull, who will be used over Wallen Creek stud females.
“I really liked him, and he is a bull that isbacked-up with a good set of estimated breeding values,” Mr Nixon said.
Also making the same money was Remolea Kenya K35, a son of Evesham Bomber from a Remolea female.
Also aged two-years, Kenya weighed 968kg, hasa scrotal circumference of 41cm, an EMA of 120sq.cm, and was bought bySid and Margaret Fletcher, Hill View, Old Koreelah, NSW.
The Flecthers also paid $7000 for Remolea Kalibrate K04, a sonof Days Calibre, from Dunoon Ruth.
Mal and Tracey Newton, Malland, Bell paid to $8000 for Remolea Kyogle K101, agrowthy son of Cannawigra Transformer.
The James family, Wandoanfinished with two bulls to average average $5750. They paid a top of $7500 for Remolea Kohli, a son of Yavenvale Futura, from the Remolea Isabel female family.
Volume buyers included Russell and Amanda Hay, Nurragi, Taroom, who finished with four bulls to average $5620,
GDL’s stud stock managerHarvey Weyman-Jones, operated for Eungy Pastoral Co, Milparinka, Blackall, who also finished with four bulls to average $5250.
Vendor Hilary O’Leary toldvisitors the cattle industry was the most positive he had seen in his life-time.
He believes the market will remain strong into the future.
